Website Updates, Applied the Careful Way
Core software, plugins, themes, and dependencies all need updates — but an update applied blind to a live site is how sites break. We test first, then apply, and we know how to roll back if something still goes wrong.
- Staged and tested before going live
- Rollback plan in place before we start
- Covers WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, and more
Why Untested Updates Are Risky
What "Tested First" Actually Means
Check Compatibility
We review release notes and known conflicts for your specific combination of core, theme, and plugins before touching anything.
Apply in Staging
Updates go to a staging copy of your site first, where we click through key pages, forms, and checkout flows.
Apply to Production
Once staging checks out clean, the same updates are applied to your live site, with a fresh backup taken immediately before.
Roll Back if Needed
If something still slips through, we already have the pre-update backup ready and can restore in minutes, not hours.
What Gets Updated
Core Software
WordPress core, Webflow platform updates, and equivalent core updates on your platform.
Plugins & Apps
WordPress plugins and WooCommerce or Shopify apps, checked individually for breaking changes.
Themes
Parent and child theme updates, with customizations preserved rather than overwritten.
Dependencies
Underlying libraries and integrations that a plugin or theme relies on to keep working correctly.
Website Update Questions
How often are updates applied?
Under a monthly plan, updates are checked and applied on a regular schedule agreed during onboarding, plus sooner for anything security-related. One-off update runs can also be requested any time as a task.
What happens if an update breaks the site?
Because updates are staged first, most breakage is caught before it ever reaches your live site. If an issue still appears in production, we already hold a pre-update backup and can restore it while the underlying cause is diagnosed. See Backup & Disaster Recovery.
Do you update WooCommerce and Shopify apps too?
Yes — WooCommerce, its extensions, and Shopify apps are treated the same way as any other plugin: checked for compatibility and tested before going live, since checkout is usually the part of a site that can least afford to break.
Will you touch settings I have customized?
No. Updates target the software itself, not your configuration. If an update changes a setting by default, we flag it rather than leave it changed silently.
Ready to Get Your Site Current?
Submit a task and we will check what is outdated, then update it safely.
